Urban Roots Austin is an awesome organization that does youth empowerment and community engagement through farming. Their produce is then used in the local community, with 40% of it being donated to local hunger relief agencies in Austin.
I got to observe one of their “harvest days”, where students and volunteers keep the farm running by harvesting, pruning, weeding, etc. These students and staff were so full of life, energy, and passion.
